Biography
As long as I can remember, I have had a marker, pencil or crayon in my hand. As a toddler, I was often found sprawled on the floor coloring or drawing. From a very early age, I was encouraged in the visual arts. I was inspired toward my career path when I took my first metals/jewelry class in junior high. I have since taken metal /design classes at Rhode Island School of Design, Penland School of Crafts, Art Studio Fuji and went on to obtain a BFA in metals/jewelry from Rochester Institute of Technology studying under Giovanni Corvaja in Todi, Italy, Giuseppe Massoni of Rome Italy, Barbara Heinrich, Juan Carlos Caballeros-Perez, Leonard Urso and So Young Park in Rochester, New York. I have a Graduate Gemology diploma from Gemology Institute of America (GIA). I currently work under Ayesha Mayadas in Englewood, New Jersey.
My pieces have artistic appeal. I use natural tension and movements found in nature to create organic forms that embody fluidity while giving artistic identity to each piece. By combining conceptual and aesthetic beauty with technical proficiency, my pieces are ornamental, abstract and decorative forms that aim to excite the imagination while capturing people’s emotions - challenging one to appreciate and desire original art. One can appreciate the time and enthusiasm invested in each piece.
There should always be discovery and drive for perfection in one’s craft. I see myself integrating the lifelong challenge to keep growing, improving and exploring, while maintaining the principles and discipline of my trade. All my pieces are hand fabricated and have won numerous awards as well as included in books, magazines and trade publications.
